Background to the disease burden that is associated with autoimmune disease
- Including prevalence and complications
Diagnosis
- Symptoms and signs, specifically associated with rheumatoid disease, thyroid autoimmune disease and systemic lupus erythematosus

Goals

During this course you will learn to:

Understand the concept of auto-immunity and the disease burden which it represents.
Describe the pathogenesis of auto-immunity.
Have an outline of the range of autoimmune diseases and the potential differential diagnoses.
Take a detailed history and know what element of examinations to undertake in people suffering autoimmune disease.
Know which investigations to undertake to diagnosis rheumatoid disease, autoimmune thyroid disease, and systemic lupus erythematosus.
