Presenter Biography

Dr Sarah Taylor

Dr Sarah Taylor is a salaried GP working in Manchester. She is a GP Lead for GatewayC and also the Associate Medical Director for Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance. Sarah’s special interests include early cancer diagnosis, student health and medical student education.

Dr Fenella Willis

Dr Willis has been a Consultant Haematologist at St George’s Hospital and has had an Honorary Senior Lecturer post in the medical school since 2004. She is the clinical lead for the Myeloma and Apheresis services at St George’s Hospital. She has been the Principal Investigator in a wide portfolio of Myeloma and Haemato-oncology clinical trials. She is the co-chair for the Myeloma UK Early Diagnosis Steering group.

Overview

The webinar will increase your knowledge in how to recognise symptoms that require investigation like bone pain, fractures, shortness of breath and fatigue, as well as risk factors for developing blood cancer. It will also help you implement effective safety netting strategies as well as talking through key investigations you can refer your patient for to support early diagnosis. The webinar will give practical advice on how to interpret blood test results and the importance of a full blood count.
