Biography

Dr Sarah Taylor 

Sarah is a salaried GP working in Manchester. She is a GP Lead for GatewayC and also the Associate Medical Director for Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance. Sarah’s special interests include early cancer diagnosis, student health and medical student education.

Professor Catherine MaBain

Professor Catherine McBain is an Honorary Professor in Cancer Sciences at The Christie Hospital, specialising in neuro-oncology. Prof McBain accepts referrals of adult patients with the entire spectrum of primary brain and spinal tumours, and a sub-set of patients with brain metastases. She also leads clinical trials in neuro-oncology, focusing on novel agents and immunotherapy in gliomas, including drug-radiotherapy combinations.

Overview

This module will take approximately 60 minutes to complete and includes the following elements:

  • Ways to support earlier cancer diagnosis in primary care.
  • How to distinguish between a common headache and a more serious condition. 
  • The 'headache plus' approach to guide clinical investigations and decision-making.
