Goals
During this course you will learn to:
- Ensure that the person has appropriate access to the services provided by the diabetes specialist team.
- Provide appropriate care, education, information, and support for people with type 1 diabetes and/or their family/carers, including information on insulin treatment, managing hypoglycaemia, and 'sick-day rules'.
- Promptly identify and manage acute complications of diabetes, such as diabetic ketoacidosis.
- Minimize the risk of long-term complications of diabetes, such as cardiovascular disease, nephropathy, retinopathy, neuropathy, and psychological problems.
