This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and includes the following elements:
- Background
- What is travel-related DVT, what are the risk factors associated with it and how do I assess someone's risk of travel-related DVT.
- Advice
- What advice to give a traveller according to their risk classification and advice regarding the use of compression stockings.
- Management
- Advice regarding patients wanting to travel who have recently suffered a DVT or have recently had a joint replacement or fracture.
- Optional quiz to assess your learning from the course
- A list of useful links and resources for further reading
Goals
During this course you will learn to:
- Assess the risk of travel-related DVT.
- Provide appropriate advice on reducing the risk of travel-related DVT.
- Recommend appropriate prophylactic measures for people at risk of travel-related DVT.
