Overview

This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and includes the following elements. 

  • An outline of the principles of health economics.
  • A view of health expenditure in the UK.
  • An introduction to the language of health economics and the various analyses that can be undertaken.
  • A view of how some other countries approach health payments, insurance and economics.
  • A view of primary care finance.

Goals

During this course you will learn about:

  • The concept of economic evaluation and the subtypes and why they are used.
  • The outline of expenditure on health in the UK and the costs of primary care.
  • How quality adjusted life years work and what they mean.
  • How some other healthcare economies work and the impact of their approach on patients and health.
  • The concepts of income and expenditure in primary care.
