Dr Milli Raizada
Dr Milli Raizada is a GP, senior clinical lecturer at Lancaster University and GMC associate. She is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education and assessment. Milli has a special interest in lifestyle medicine and uses its principles to prevent, manage and treat common chronic diseases in primary care.
Purpose
This session focuses on hypothyroidism, with an emphasis on autoimmune causes such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. It provides a detailed guide on assessing underactive thyroid symptoms. We will cover TFT interpretation, distinguishing between overt and subclinical hypothyroidism, and when to initiate treatment. Practical management with levothyroxine, dose titration, monitoring, and considerations for pregnancy and older adults are included. Case examples will help GPs apply the principles discussed in the webinar.
