Goals
During this course you will learn to:
- Be aware of the differences between insulin products.
- Be aware of the different insulin regimens.
- Identify the most appropriate insulin product and ensure that people receive appropriate training on their correct use.
- Ensure that people receiving insulin therapy are given information on awareness and management of hypoglycaemia.
- Manage other adverse effects of insulin therapy, such as injection site problems.
- Be aware of 'sick-day rules' and ensure that people with diabetes who are receiving insulin therapy are given appropriate information on these.
- Provide information and advice on lifestyle and cultural aspects of insulin therapy, including diet and exercise, alcohol intake, driving, holiday and travel, insurance, fasting, and shift work.
