Overview

This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and includes the following elements. 

  • Introduction
    • How to define atrial fibrillation (AF), overview of anatomy of cardiac conducting system, how to classify atrial fibrillation, and how it appears on an ECG.
  • Background information
    • What causes AF, including cardiac and non-cardiac causes, prevalence information, prognosis and complications of AF.
  • Diagnosis
    • Including signs and symptoms suggestive of AF, which investigations to carry out and ECG examples.
  • Differential information
    • ECG interpretation of differential diagnosis of an irregular pulse.
  • Optional quiz to assess your learning from the course
  • A list of useful links and resources for further reading
