Pharmacogenomics in Practice

Presenter Biography

Ravi Sharma is Head of Pharmacy (Luton & Dunstable University Hospital) and Deputy Chief Pharmacist at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Prior to this he was Director for England at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and National Clinical Lead for Clinical Pharmacy and Genomics at NHS England, where he was responsible for the policy, advocacy, and lobbying for the integration of pharmacy teams into new integrated, collaborative and innovative roles linked to health policy initiatives and workforce development strategies.

A pharmacist prescriber by background, Ravi has worked in general practice for over 10 years. He has held several national and advisory positions across Department of Health and Social Care, the British Medical Association and Royal College of General Practitioners.

Ravi received a scholarship to complete a masters in Genomic Medicines at Imperial College London in 2018. He is now currently completing a doctorate at The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra (in Australia), a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Visiting Fellow at The King’s Fund, and a member of the NHS Assembly.

• Advances in pharmacogenomics testing strategies that are happening in the UK and internationally, particularly across primary care.
