Overview

This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and includes the following elements. 

  • When an ECG is indicated in the investigation and assessment of a patient.
  • The benefits of ECG interpretation.
  • A range of patterns, normal and abnormal, including common dysrhythmias and other pathologies, which can affect the ECG appearance.
  • A list of useful links and resources for further reading

Goals

During this course you will learn about typical ECG changes visible with:

  • Dysrhythmias
    • Atrial fibrillation.
    • Supraventricular tachycardia.
    • Sinus bradycardia.
    • Sinus tachycardia.
    • Heart block.
  • Other pathologies
    • Myocardial infarction (acute and 'old').
    • Pulmonary embolus.
    • Pericarditis.
