Overview
This module will take approximately 60 minutes to complete. It is designed for relevant primary care staff to assist with their understanding of how to recognize the signs of possible radicalization and to raise awareness of the principles and practice in the context of their work. It consists of the following elements.
- Short videos, a case study, and multiple-choice questions.
- An extensive list of further reading and resources to gain a deeper understanding of the issues.
Goals
During this course you will learn:
- The objectives of the Prevent strategy and the health sector contribution to the Prevent agenda.
- About your professional responsibilities in relation to the safeguarding of adults, children, and young people at risk.
- The vulnerability factors that can make individuals susceptible to radicalization, or a risk to others.
- How to recognize potential indicators of risk relating to individuals being radicalized.
- What the term 'vulnerable' means in the context of Prevent, and what vulnerabilities are exploited by terrorist groups.
- How to share concerns, seek advice and make referrals within their own organisation and with other agencies where appropriate
- Understand the referral mechanism to Prevent case management and understand Channel multi-agency arrangements to provide support and redirection to individuals at risk of radicalization
- Understand the importance of sharing information and the consequences of failing to do so.
